First, you may be asking yourself why the name Prydz sounds so familiar. Perhaps your subconscious is pulling up memories from a 10th grade basement party;  shitty beer, whiskey from a watered down bottle someone stole from their parents, and the ever infectiousness ” Call on me” blaring from a home stereo system. Prydz hit it big in 2004  with two singles off of his debut album also named ‘Call On Me’.  The song sampled a early 1980′s synth jam called ‘Valerie’ and his next hit ‘ Proper Education’ samples the king of lazer shows, Pink Floyd.

But where is Prydz now? What rock has he crawled under? Was ‘Call on me’  an equivalent to a one hit wonder? Perhaps. But perhaps not. German band Polarkreis18′s  ’Allein’ has been given the privileged of being put into the ‘Eric Prydz’ blender.  And now a obscure German-pop anthem has been turned into electronic gold. And who said sampling is for the talentless?

So, while Eric Prydz is no longer at the top of his game, and not the hottest DJ on everyone’s tongue, I do think we should take this moment and appreciate a pioneer’s efforts

On June 12th, AutoErotique’s new EP ‘EKG’ will drop and if It sounds anything like the first single ” Roll the Drums”, it’s sure not to disappoint. With an ambient intro, and a meaty percussion filled base line, it bangs… and it bangs loud.
Clockwork is a New York based music producer and has an affinity for meshing the perfect high’s and lows to create the soundtrack to a ” seshallent ” good time.
Recommended for summer fun activities.

Download Purity Ring Obedear (CRNKN Remix)

Some would say Purity Ring has a certain quality that you just cant put your finger on. It’s a tad eerie, a bit obscure but addicting none the less. The indie Montreal natives (that explains it. Oh, Canada) are known for their outlandish shows and other worldly vocals. They’ve garnered a lot of hype within the past few months and I cant decide if it’s warranted or not. What does deserve attention is CRNKN’s remix to the bands new single, off of their yet to be released debut album Shrines.
Its dark, has just the right amount of dub, and is perfect for a hazy poolside day. Dark sunglasses recommended to hide your hungover eyes.

Lets bring it down a notch. As the dog days of summer begin, you may find yourself in desperate need of a little relief from the heat. You may may become weary of your long travels, and you may have rent that’s due. You may be out of a job and you may not have a lick of luck left in your shabby pockets. You may be a way worn soul looking for love, a cold drink(s), and a place you can cut some rug and boogie to some blues. I hope you find yourself in good company and some jams, such as the one above.

Here’s a little southern flare to get your Friday night started…
